The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to announce a new partnership with the Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas (IPLAI) at McGill University to introduce Sunday-@-The SegalMonday-@-McGill.

Part of the growing Segal Centre public programming, Sunday-@-The Segal enhances the theatre-going experience through a series of riveting lectures and intimate talks given by some of the community’s most prominent artists and thinkers. All talks take place on the first Sunday performance of each mainstage production in the Segal Theatre.

The partnership will expand the ever-popular Sunday lecture series to include Monday-@-McGill workshops the following week that will give a smaller group of participants the chance to address a text, theme, or question from the Sunday session in greater depth. Like the Sunday series, Monday-@-McGill is open to all. All Monday sessions will be at McGill.

To open the 2012-2013 series we are pleased to welcome stage director, conductor, and Director of Opera McGill, Patrick Hansen.

About Guys and Dolls – see the trailer here!

The Segal Centre inaugurates its stellar 2012-2013 theatre season with the ultimate Broadway classic musical about sex, love and redemption in 1940s New York, where Broadway is a playground for the city’s biggest hustlers and sinners. The hottest gamblers are in town and Nathan Detroit needs cash to continue his infamous floating craps game. On the other end of the moral compass, Sarah Brown and the Save-a-Soul Mission are determined to rid the city of its sinners. Hounded by cops and a nagging girlfriend desperate for marriage, Detroit is determined to get what he wants in this lavish Tony Award-winning musical, inspired by the mythical short-stories of iconic writer Damon Runyon. Directed by Diana Leblanc (HarveySame Time, Next Year),  Guys and Dolls features a stellar cast of Canada’s foremost musical theatre performers and some of Broadway’s most unforgettable numbers up-close-and-personal at the Segal theatre.

Admission is FREE. All talks take place on the first Sunday of each run at 11 am in the Segal Theatre - seating is general admission.Coffee and refreshments will be served before the presentation.
