WISTA Provides Opportunities for Young Artists with LEGALLY BLONDE, Feb 1-9

The West Island Student Theatre Association (WISTA) is a fairly young educational organization and theatre company. Founded in 2006, WISTA members learn and improve amidst a large group of volunteers, whether it be behind the scenes or on stage. One thing members share is a huge passion for musical theatre.

WISTA was founded six years ago and began with small cabaret performances. They graduated in 2011 to producing two popular Broadway musicals each year as well as dinner theatre and cabaret.

WISTA'S first production of 2013 is the Montreal premiere of LEGALLY BLONDE. With music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach, LEGALLY BLONDE is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. Along the way, Elle discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others and that being true to yourself never goes out of style. LEGALLY BLONDE features energetic dance numbers and catchy songs. It is sure to be a hit with WISTA'S fast growing, dedicated audience.L-R Katja Teixeira (Elle Woods), Sarah Kulaga-Yoskovitz (Paulette) and Matt Barker (Kyle the UPS Guy)

Along with their education aspect, WISTA also believes in giving back to the community. For their upcoming production, WISTA will be donating a portion of the proceeds to breast cancer research. WISTA is proud to help and support strong women in any capacity they can.

With their hearts and minds in the right place, WISTA is sure to go far in the rapidly evolving English language musical theatre scene in Montreal.

LEGALLY BLONDE runs February 1, 2, 8 & 9
